Kentucky Humanities is seeking a full-time Program and Administrative Assistant to join our team in July, 2022.

Position Available: Program and Administrative Assistant

Kentucky Humanities, a private nonprofit organization affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities and dedicated to Telling Kentucky’s Story is seeking an Program and Administrative Assistant with a general interest in Kentucky literature, history and culture, and a detail oriented person who likes to deal with the public.

The Program and Administrative Assistant under the supervision of the Associate and Executive Director:

  • Assists with the Coordination day-to-day operations of  Kentucky Humanities programs including Prime Time Family Reading program, Kentucky Reads, minigrants, Museum on Main Street program and others by answering questions, maintaining records associated with programs; authorizing payments; and by preparing reports on specific program activities for the board and committees.
  • Maintains integrity of public relations by receiving and organizing calls, correspondence, and other communications with KH, and processing information according to staff responsibilities and priorities; managing database entries and queries; and handling associated clerical needs; .

Employment Type: Full-time salary

Pay Rate: $34,000-$36,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits including health insurance, retirement contributions, paid vacation, holidays. 40 hour work week Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some weekend and evening hours for special events required.


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 2 year’s experience in an office environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, database software, and web applications

Proposed Start Date: July, 2022. This is a new position, so there is some flexibility on the start date.

The successful applicant will be highly organized, energetic and a collaborative office worker. It is important that this person is computer literate, pays attention to detail, and is precise in working with database software. This person will serve as the first point of contact for people contacting Kentucky Humanities and asking for information on our programs. Additional requirements: occasional travel.
