Fort Boonesborough to host celebration of the 275th birthday of Daniel Boone.

Throughout 2009 Fort Boonesborough State Park will be celebrating the 275th Birthday of Daniel Boone.  On October 17-18, 2009 the park will host a special weekend celebration of Boone’s Birthday. There will be a full schedule of Kentucky Humanities Council Chautauqua presentations both days by Scott New portraying Daniel Boone. The events will also include book signings and presentations by Boone authors Meredith Mason Brown on Saturday, and Neal O. Hammon on Sunday, and presentations each day by Michael Fields as Chief Blackfish, discussing the relationship of Boone and Blackfish. All of these activities are in addition to 18th century encampments, traders and merchants, Native Americans, and on-going interpretation and demonstrations of 18th century life on the Kentucky Frontier. The 18th Century Transylvania Store, Museum Store, and Fort Museum will all be open throughout the weekend.
